Mr. Hupp's Students Compete in C-SPAN StudentCam Competition
Mr. Hupp’s College in High School American Government class recently participated in a nationwide video competition sponsored by C-SPAN. The class of fourteen seniors broke off into groups of two or three in order to compose their video entry for the annual C-SPAN StudentCam competition. C-SPAN's StudentCam is an annual national video documentary competition that encourages students to think seriously about issues that affect our communities and our nation. Students are asked to create a short, 5-8 minute video documentary on a topic related to a specific theme. This year’s theme related to any provision of the U.S. Constitution and illustrate why it is important to you. Each group in Mr. Hupp’s American Government class utilized numerous components of technology that Cornell has to offer in order to put together their video entries. Students in each group first identified which provision of the Constitution was most important to them. The groups then worked together in order to research their topic, locate and download video clips, design storyboards, plan interviews, write scripts, film scenes, and edit their documentaries. After weeks of hard work, each group in Mr. Hupp’s American Government class submitted their videos to C-SPAN’s StudentCam website. The competition is currently closed for judging, and winners will be announced on Wednesday, March 7th. Good luck to all Cornell groups who participated!
